The Ministry says the supply of meat, vegetables and other necessities is abundant in the autonomous region, and that prices have fallen to levels from before the July 5th riot in Urumqi. Local authorities say 1,500 tons of vegetables were shipped to Urumqi in the past week.
They have taken measures to ensure safe and rapid transport of produce to retailers. They also set up several direct sale stations and floating vendor buses to meet demand. Meanwhile, the central government is ready to use its reserve meats to ensure market supply.
