The Water Cube, which witnessed multiple world records during the 2008 Olympic Games, has become the stage of a ballet, telling a fascinating fairy tale. The prestigious Royal Russian Ballet presented a different "Swan Lake" at the national Aquatic Center on Friday night.
For the first time, the classic ballet repertoire "Swan Lake" broke free from conventional stages in theatres. The two main swimming pools, where athletes from around the world competed during the 2008 Beijing Olympics were part of the stage as the swan lake.
Artists from the Royal Russian Ballet Troupe showed their graceful skills in the unique setting. World famous Russian water ballerinas performed as swans in the water, while well-known Chinese divers acted as the devils.
Among them was Yang Guang, who is famous for cliff diving in China. In all, they want to show the combined beauty of art and sport. The new-look "Swan Lake" is on stage at the Water Cube until August the 2nd.
