The world premiere of the latest "Star Trek" film has taken place at the Sydney Opera House. That's ahead of its global release in cinemas in early May.

Stars of the film including Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto and Eric Bana as the intergalactic villain were in Australia to promote the latest instalment of the much loved science fiction series.

The movie is a prequel and goes back in time to the maiden voyage of the U.S.S. Starship Enterprise.

The fate of the galaxy rests in the hands of two young and very competitive cadets with different leadership styles.
