Amid an internal crisis at the Flamengo soccer team, the club was able to produce a 1-1 draw against cross-town rival Botafogo on Saturday in the 27th round of the Brazilian soccer championship.

Botafogo scored the game's first goal in the 35th minute. Off a stopped ball, Lucio Flavio sent it over the defensive barrier, bending the ball into the back of the Flamengo net.

Flamengo responded by scoring the equalizer in the 78th minute. On a penalty kick, Petkovic sent the ball into the right corner. However, keeper Jefferson deflected the ball, sending it back towards the field. Flamengo's fullback Leonardo Moura reacted quickly and blasted the ball past Jefferson, tying the match.

Botafogo remains in sixth place with 42 points. In the 28th round of play, the team will travel to face Guarani on October 6.

The draw keeps Flamengo in a troublesome 15th place with 30 points. In the next round, it will host Atletico-GO on October 7.
