A two-day China-Morocco Business and Investment Fair was opened here Wednesday, aiming to promote economic cooperation between China and Morocco.
The fair is co-sponsored by the Morocco Embassy to China and Beijing Association for International Friendly Contacts. Entrepreneurs from the two countries will have negotiations on more than 100 cooperative projects proposed by the Morocco government.
According to the organizers, the projects will involve agricultural products and processing, catering, machinery, pharmacy, chemistry, real estate and hi-tech industry.
Morocco's ambassador to China Mehdi Mimoun said at the opening ceremony that Morocco is a good partner safe and reliable for foreign investment due to its complete infrastructure construction and governmental policies.
He pointed out that Morocco and China are complementary to each other's national economy, and called for joint efforts to boost bilateral cooperation under the circumstance when China officially enter the World Trade Organization.
In 1958, China and Morocco signed the first governmental convention on trading. In recent years, the bilateral trading has witness a fast growth. China's exports to Morocco totaled US$289 million in 1999, and imports US$45 million.
