China's CPPCC Chairman Moroccan Parliament Leaders

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met separately with leaders of the Moroccan parliament in Rabat Friday.

Li told Moustapha Okacha, president of the Senate, and Abdeloughed Radi, president of the Chamber of Representatives, that the CPPCC wishes to increase exchange and cooperation with the Moroccan parliament and contribute to the development of the friendly relations between the two countries.

The Chinese leader said that the friendly cooperation between China and Morocco has achieved fruitful results in various areas over the past 40 years. China is particularly grateful to the Moroccan Government for its support on issues of human rights and Taiwan.

Li arrived here Wednesday on a three-day official goodwill visit. He was met by the king and prime minister of Morocco respectively.

The chairman said that he had the impression after the meetings that both countries want to raise the relations to a higher level in the new century.

"With the care and efforts of leaders of both countries, I believe the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Morocco will grow even better and faster," he said.

For his part, Okacha said the Moroccan Senate is willing to work jointly with the CPPCC and help increase contacts between the two peoples. Radi said that it is the common desire of the people of the two countries to develop friendship.

Li is scheduled to conclude his visit to Morocco Saturday.
