The 2000 China International Friendship Cities Conference concluded in Beijing on the afternoon of September 28.
During the three-day event, about 600 Chinese and foreign representatives exchanged views and experience on urban administration and construction at 8 forums on co-operations between cities or local authorities..
22 pairs of local cities signed agreements clinching their friendly ties during the conference. So far, the Chinese cities have forged friendly relations with more than 970 of their foreign counterparts.
A meeting to mark IULA Day was held envisage the prospects of co-operation between China and IULA. President Max Ng’andwe and other leaders of the organization attended the meeting.
Chen Haosu, vice-president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), said at the closing ceremony that China will introduce more foreign cities to its western cities and enhance friendly contact with them in developing countries.
