Vietnamese Press Hails Success of Jiang Zemin's Visit

Vietnamese newspapers carried commentary and articles on Saturday, highly valuing fine successes of the official goodwill visit to Vietnam by China's Party and state leader Jiang Zemin.

In a commentary with a title of "Vietnam-China Friendship Being Unceasingly Forged and Developed", Vietnamese party's daily Nhan Dan (People) described the successful visit by General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese President Jiang Zemin on early days of 2002's spring season as a new milestone in the development history of friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and China.

With the complicated development of the world situation, and new opportunities and challenges, the successes of Jiang's visit have shown that strengthening the Vietnam-China relationship according to the principle of "long-term stability, future orientation, friendly neighborliness, and all-round cooperation" is not only in conformity with aspirations of the peoples of both countries but also conducive to the peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world, Nhan Dan stressed.

Hanoi Moi, Hanoi municipal party committee's daily, also praised the successes of Jiang's visit, saying that the successes of the visit once again demonstrated the determination of the two countries' leaders to exploit the great potentialities in the various fields of cooperation, aiming to take the Vietnam-China relationship to a new height in the 21st century.

A communique released by Press and Information Department of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry at the end of the visit said that Jiang's visit to Vietnam has achieved great successes, creating a new impetus to further promote the development of the relationship between the two parties and the two countries.

Jiang, as guest of General Secretary of Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nong Duc Manh and Vietnamese State president Tran Duc Luong, paid an official goodwill visit to Vietnam from February 27 to March 1.
