General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Chinese President Jiang Zemin returned to Beijing Friday evening after a three-day official goodwill visit to Vietnam.
Among those who greeted Jiang at the Great Hall of the People were Member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee and Premier Zhu Rongji, Member of the Political Bureau Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee and Vice-President Hu Jintao, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Tian Jiyun, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice-Chairman of the Central Military Commission Zhang Wannian, and other high-ranking Chinese officials.
The Vietnamese Charge d'Affaires, ad Interim, Nguyen Ba Cu alsogreeted Jiang at the Great Hall of the People.
Jiang's entourage which returned to Beijing by air included hiswife Wang Yeping, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and his wife Zhou Hanqiong, Alternate Member of the Political Bureau and Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee Zeng Qinghong, Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee Wang Gang, Head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee Dai Bingguo, Minister in charge of the Central Foreign Affairs Office Liu Huaqiu, Director of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee Teng Wensheng, and other senior officials.
Jiang started his visit to Vietnam on February 27 as guest of the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nong Duc Manh and Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong.
