Typhoon Morakot has caused heavy flooding and serious damage along its path in the Chinese coastal provinces of Fujian and Zhejiang. Local residents and relief workers are busy with repair work.
16 typhoon-affected factories in Fujian have resumed production. Local fishermen have begun preparing to return to sea by checking and repairing their vessels. Major roads that were closed due to heavy rain have reopened. In Zhejiang Province, most of the power facilities that were temporarily shut down have now been restored. A local bank has provided nearly 2 million yuan worth of loans to disaster-affected farmers to help them resume production.
