After Cannes, the cast and crew of the film "Mulan" have come to the Shanghai Film Festival. Leading the pack was director Jingle Ma. Zhao Wei, HU Jun, Jaycee Chan, Nick Lee, Xu Jiao and Liu Yuxin presented a night of Mulan early this week.
The star-studded cast is one of the highlights of "Mulan." It's the first time that both the leading actress Zhao Wei and actor Hu Jun attended the same promotion event for the film. Zhao calls Hu teacher, who taught her about horse riding. It's also a happy meeting for Hong Kong's Nick Lee and Jaycee Chan. The two haven't met for a long time. Young actress Xu Jiao, winner of Hong Kong's Best Newcomer Award, show maturity beyond her years in her role as the young Mulan. She hasn't gotten over the excitement of her first Kungfu sequence in the film. But missing was Chen Kun, who's usually at Zhao Wei's side.
More details about the shooting, especially the battle scenes have been revealed in the latest four-minute promos. Hua Mulan is a famous ancient Chinese heroine who disguised herself as a man to take her father's place in the army. The story has been adapted and told in many forms. In 1998, Disney made an animated version.
