A set of traditional auspicious wedding gifts consisting of nine "treasures" is making a comeback in China. Each piece is made of pure gold.

The nine trinkets include a comb, symbolizing mutual respect; and a miniature weighing scale, which signifies satisfaction in traditional Chinese culture. There is also a ruler, an abacus, a mirror, a pair of scissors and a measuring cup.

All nine trinkets embody the essence of traditional Chinese wedding customs. Usually they are bought by the bride's older relatives as part of her trousseau. But shop assistants say parents of the groom-to-be also buy these trinkets to express their wishes for a long-lasting marriage.
