Foreign corporations including Disney have expressed great interest in a Chinese "movie world" planned for northeastern China.
The movie world in Changchun, capital city of Jilin Province, will look a lot like a Hollywood film studio with its three-dimensional demonstrations of tornadoes and floods.
Its investor, Changchun Film Group, plans to kick off construction in 2003 with a first round input of one billion yuan (US$120 million).
Disney has delivered its willingness to cooperate. Other corporations in the Republic of Korea and Singapore have also expressed intent to invest and to become shareholders.
The People's Bank of China has granted a loan of US$6 million.
Zhao Guoguang, director of Changchun Film Group, said he was sure more investors would come. "The movie world would become a popular recreation site and its prospects of making profits is good."
