Bayerische Motor en Werhe AG (BMW) in 2001 experienced a sharp increase and had almost double its sales in the Chinese mainland, the quantity of vehicles sold reaching 5,740. China has been the second largest market in Asia for BMW.
People in charge of sales and marketing within BMW Group revealed that their Group put 61,500 new vehicles on market in Asia in 2001, up 6 percent over the same period of the year before last. For the rate of market occupation, BMW dominated one fifth market share of superior quality cars.
Actively enlarging Asian market
BMW is fully confident of Asian economic performance in the future in spite of a recent slump. It indicates in the coming ten years the growth of the global car market will be mainly in Asia and BMW is going to produce twenty kinds of newly-designed cars and three series of engines.
BMW will attach great importance to the business in China. It is said that it is currently enlarging its sale and service networks and has established two exhibition halls respectively in the prime areas in Beijing and Shanghai.
