Construction of an agricultural high technology zone has started in Shenyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning Province.
Vice-mayor Li Baoquan said that the city will develop the agricultural high-tech zone into China's agricultural "Silicon Valley." Covering 150 square kilometers, the zone will consist of a basic industries district, a processing industry district, a sight-seeing district and a central district.
The city plans to invest two billion yuan (US$240 million) in infrastructure construction in the zone and six billion yuan (US$720 million) in the development of industries in five years.
