China Motion Telecom International Limited and Ericsson Limited announced Monday that they have signed a memorandum of understanding to join forces in developing the Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) business in Hong Kong.
The agreement provides both parties the opportunities to work closely together in exchange of knowledge and sharing experiences in the course of developing MVNO business.
China Motion was granted a license by the Office of the Telecommunications Authority of Hong Kong for operating as a MVNO in November 2001. Complying with the regulations, China Motion is entitled to establish its own 2G and 3G MVNO business.
With Ericsson as preferred MVNO solution partner, China Motion will utilize its existing system and gateway to implement its MVNO plans to provide mobile telecommunications and value added services, short messaging, external telecommunications services, information and entertainment, mobile Internet, mobile data, and other 3G related multi-media services.
