Hu Jintao Urges CPC to Strengthen Ideology Building

China's top leader Hu Jintao stressed the importance of strengthening theory building for the Communist Party of China (CPC) and guiding the practice with scientific theory and ideology.

Hu, general secretary of the Central Committee of the CPC, made the remarks when presiding over a study session held Monday among members of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

Hu said to review the history of how the CPC ideology and theory evolved will greatly help the Party to further study and implement the important thought of "Three Represents".

Deng Xiaoping Theory and the "Three Represents" thought are the latest achievements the CPC has made in ideology and theory building, Hu said.

He urged all Party members to earnestly study and grasp the essence of those theories to continuously promote such building of the CPC.

Without the guidance of scientific theory and ideology, our practice would not have been successful, he added.

The ultimate aim of intensifying the study of theory and the building of the ideology and theory of the CPC was to guide our actual work, Hu said.

He called on the CPC organizations and leaders at all levels to improve their capability of guiding their actual work with the basic theory, principles and lines of the CPC.
