A senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official has highlighted the need to strengthen Party building so as to improve Party members' conduct and build a clean government.
Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour of southwest China's Yunnan Province from May 31 to June 4.
He said the improvement of the Party building is an effective way to enhance the Party's leadership and its ability to govern.
Wu, also secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, visited enterprises and rural areas in Yunnan, and held cordial talks with local workers, farmers, grass-root officials and scientific and technical personnel.
He listened to reports from local authorities on their efforts to combat SARS and corruption and to speed up local economic development.
Wu spoke highly of the achievements Yunnan has made. He called on the CPC members to emancipate their minds and make progress in line with the current trends so as to create a new situation in their work.
