Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality will close down over 5,000 polluting enterprises in the coming five years to ensure all its enterprises meet the national environmental protection standard.
Chongqing has already shut down more than 2,200 heavy-polluting enterprises, most of which are small factories and coal mines.
The Bureau of Environment Protection of the city has made a plan for the coming five years, aiming to improve the overall environment of Chongqing.
Chongqing will develop industries of electronics information, biomedicine, environmental protection and new materials in the future while enhancing its industry of auto and motorcycle, and chemical medicines.
