At least four issues must be settled on China’s way to become one of the strongest textile exporters in the world, said senior official Wang Lie with the China Administration of Textile Industry.
Ten years are still needed for the country to fulfill this goal, according to Wang.
Wang made these remarks at the Second International Fashion Festival recently held in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province.
China is a large exporter of textile in the world. Yet, many issues remain to be solved in this industry, said Wang.
First, the marketing including the state macro-control policies and enterprise operational mechanism should be developed in line with the international market and practice. Years of reform in this field, especially in the 14 years of China’s efforts of WTO entry, the gap between the country and the rest of the world in trade system and planning has been narrowed gradually. In addition the reform is being strengthened.
Yet, Wang added, the managerial mechanism of Chinese textile enterprises is not fit for the international market and practice. The country should develop large, strong textile export groups.
Large numbers of textile and costume designers should be sent to abroad for study of market trends so as to better exploit market.
Furthermore, China should have its own fist textile products and name brands in the world, which will sharpen its competitive edges and seize more market share.
The product price and export efficiency wait to be upgraded to improve China’s strength in this industry.
These four issues are prerequisite for the country to develop into a powerful textile country, said Wang.
