Tibet University, the leading educational institution in Tibet Autonomous Region, has introduced, for the first time, degree examinations on the Tibetan language.
The exams, in four degrees, are designed to test the students on their knowledge of the Tibetan language and will be carried out twice a year, according to a university official.
The four-degree scheme has been developed from a previous three-degree one which was trailed two years ago.
Tibet University, with over 5,000 students, has two institutes, eight departments and a department for overseas students. Tibetan language is a compulsory subject for all students.
