Postgraduates in China are finding more opportunities in the job market this year, thanks to an enthusiastic demand for talent, sources from the Ministry of Education said in Beijing on September 28.
Of the 71 universities under the ministry, 47 said more than 90 percent of their postgraduates had found jobs by September 1. For elite universities such as Tsinghua, Peking, Fudan, and 13 others, the percentage is as high as 95 percent.
Graduates with master's degrees are even more sought after: ten universities said 100 percent of their graduates have found jobs.
Education experts said China's strong economic growth has been driving up the demand for graduates since 1999.
In the case of Shanghai Jiaotong University, every graduate of 1999 had at least two jobs waiting; this year, each graduate has at least five jobs to choose from.
Postgraduates of certain majors may have as many as 15 job opportunities.
