North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is giving top priority to developing its green food industry, according to the regional government's science and technology department.
Greater efforts will be made to develop a number of green food production bases, including farms and enterprises to produce meat, milk, grain, fruit, aquatic food, drinks, vegetables, fowl and eggs, medicinal herbs and health food, the department said.
Currently, Inner Mongolia has 78 green food producers whose annual green food output accounts for 11 percent of the country's total. And local green food products have been well sold in domestic and international markets.
Since 1996, the autonomous region has invested 57.99 million yuan in promoting technological progress in the green food industry.
