The "2000 Exhibition of Spanish Household Appliances" held in Shanghai recently has attracted wide attention from citizens and business circles, and can be seen as Spain's first step in promoting business in Shanghai.
As Spain's first household appliances exhibition of this scale in China, it has exhibited a variety of products, mainly including furniture, household textiles, ceramic materials and appliances for the office, kitchen and bathroom. More than 170 Spanish companies have participated in this exhibition. The exhibition area covers about 20,000 square meters.
During the exhibition, Spain also organized a conference on economy and trade in the Asia-Pacific region, a forum on investment and cooperation between Spain and China and several symposiums on Spanish interior design, ceramic bricks and the like.
Many Spanish companies have expressed their hope of establishing distribution channels and partners in China.
According to experts, the boost in the real estate industry and the "household fitting up craze" around China will provide a large market for Spanish construction and finishing firms.
This exhibition is a part of the "2000 Asia-Pacific Plan" initiated by Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Finance, which ranks China among the four safest regions for European commercial activities.
Spain's export to China is so far the 7th largest among European countries, accounting for 5.2 percent of the entire quota.
