Thousands of Baoji citizens, a city located in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, gathered Thursday to commemorate Yandi, the legendary ancestor of the Chinese nation.
The commemorative activities were held at the Yandi Temple in downtown Baoji, which is to be the native place of Yandi.
Also present at Thursday's ceremony are compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, overseas Chinese from other countries and foreign guests.
Following the ceremony, people from all walks of life visited the Yandi Temple and paid their respects to Yandi.
In another development, thousands of mainland citizens and overseas Chinese attended a ceremony in Huangling County, Shaanxi Province, to commemorate Huangdi, also another legendary ancestor of the Chinese nation.
Chinese people throughout the world take pride in being the descendants of Yandi and Huangdi.
