"Bravo China," an annual overseas gala extravaganza staged by China's top performing artists, will be held in the Nelson Mandela Theater in Johannesburg, South Africa on February 17th.
South African President Thabo Mbeki said in his congratulatory message that his country feels honored to host "Bravo China," which shows that China considers South Africa a valued friend.
He said he believes the gala will help strengthen mutual understanding between the two nations, as bilateral relations have been enhanced in recent years.
"Bravo China," a widely acclaimed cultural feast, has been held in the US Hollywood Bowl, the Kremlin Theater of Russia, the Millennium Palace in Britain and the Herod Atticus Theater in Athens, Greece.
The performance was co-sponsored by China Central Television (CCTV), Shanghai Oriental TV and Pegasus International Entertainment Co.
Well-known Chinese TV director Chen Linchun and South African director Gavin Wratten will co-direct the performance. South Africa's most accomplished stage director Marthinus Basson will direct the performers.
Internationally acclaimed Chinese artists will perform dances like the "Spirit of the Terracotta Soldiers" and "Such a Beautiful Jasmine Flower," and join South African artists in some classical dances.
Two first-class acrobatic troupes from China will also dazzle audiences with their creative magic and acrobatic performances.
