China will launch an examination across the country to solve safety problems occurred in the production, said Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo Saturday at a teleconference in Beijing.
Wu said that factories of civil explosives and firecracker will be closed without any hesitation if they operate without license or turn out unqualified products.
Other focuses of the examination include traffic and coal mining safety, transportation and storage of dangerous chemicals, and fire fighting in public places.
Wu urged effective measures to be taken to guarantee safe production. Officials who are held responsible for accidents will be punished according to regulations and laws.
He said that local governments must pay great attention to safety in entertainment places and tourist attractions as May 1, the International Labor Day, approaches.
He called on the police, civil aviation, railway, tourism departments to ensure people a safe and happy holiday.
