Chinese, Cuban Leaders Visit Expositions

Visiting Chinese President Jiang Zemin and his Cuban counterpart Fidel Castro visited Friday a Chinese electronic product exhibition and a Cuban bio-engineering show in Havana.

The two leaders were informed of the latest development of joint cooperative projects between the two countries.

Trade between China and Cuba showed robust development with volume hitting 315 million US dollars in 2000, up 43.2 percent from the year before.

As two latest examples, China's Panda Electronic Group signed a deal with Cuba to export and produce 1 million color TV sets. Great Dragon Group of China recently clinched a contract to build a telephone network in Cuba.
