Two groups of diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations stationed in Beijing finished their visit to west China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and Qinghai and Gansu provinces.
During the visit, the three provinces' leaders briefed the visitors on local economic conditions and projects seeking investment and cooperation.
The two groups also visited some local enterprises and scientific research institutions.
Through the visit, the foreign envoys had direct contact with the western region and learnt more about China's strategy to develop the vast, resource-rich yet economically-backward west.
The visitors stated that they hoped that their countries could have more economic cooperation and communication with the Chinese western areas.
The visit is organized by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
