The Chinese Nanhai Dragon Boat Team won the championship after it came first in the Beijing, Hangzhou and Xiamen sections. The competition, co-sponsored by the State Sports General Administration, the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the State Tourism Administration, is aimed at demonstrating the Chinese people's strong desire to unify the country.
