Chinese President Arrives in Cambodia for State Visit

Chinese President Jiang Zemin arrived in Phnom Penh Monday morning for a state visit at the invitation of Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk.

Jiang, the first Chinese Head of State to visit the Kingdom of Cambodia since 1963, just set foot on the Cambodian soil to begin his visit.

King Sihanouk hosted a grand ceremony to welcome Jiang and the Chinese delegation.

Cambodia is the second-leg of President Jiang's three-nation trip to Southeast Asia following Laos. He is to pay a state visit to Brunei and attend the 8th Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation informal summit after concluding his visit here.
