A robot Olympic contest opened Sunday in Shanghai, involving junior participants from China's Shanghai Municipality and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The contest includes robot adventure and robot speed contests. All the robots are made by the middle and primary-school youngsters themselves.
Thirty-two teams consisting of pupils and students from the two cities participated in the 6-hour contest, with competitors from Shanghai winning most of the prizes. These prize winners will attend the final of the 2000 Shanghai-Hong Kong Junior Robot Olympic Contest to be held in Hong Kong in October this year.
