Meteorologists said Shanghai will gradually enter the hot summer season beginning late this week, Wenhui Daily reported today.
A cloud cluster over Yungui Plateau in southwestern China now moving east will probably bring drizzles to the city tomorrow. While starting Friday, the temperature will climb and there will be mainly sunny days throughout the weekend, Meteorologist Yao Zuqing predicts.
Yao said although the calendar told us that summer began last Saturday, the real hot season hasn't come yet. The city will not really enter the season until the temperature level reaches above 22 Celsius for five consecutive days, he said.
The city maintained a top temperature of around 20 Celsius during the past May Day holiday. The top temperature reached 25.5 Celsius yesterday, the Xujiahui District weather station reported.
