Chinese President Jiang Zemin Sunday called on the logistics departments of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) to push the army's logistic work to a higher level, centered on the "fight-to-win" objective.
Jiang, who is also chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), made the call here while meeting with representatives attending a conference on army logistics.
He spoke highly of what the army logistics departments had done over the past years, saying that the whole army should follow the principle of focusing on matters of strategic importance in the army building.
Unswerving efforts should be made to restructure the military guarantee system in a bid to facilitate united operations and logistics of the army, the airforce and the navy, Jiang said.
He urged the army's logistics departments to enhance the PLA's combat readiness and efficiency, and rely on technological innovations.
Chinese Vice-President and CMC Vice-Chairman Hu Jintao and other military leaders were present at the meeting.
