Three years ago, when I returned to China from the United States, people would ask me, "What are you doing in China?'' I would ask them, "Do you know what the Internet is?'' Often they would say, "That's the name of the hotel next to the airport?'' From a meager start of 0.67 million users in 1997, today, China is home to more than 22.5 million Internet users. China is currently the fastest growing market in the world.
With a strong confidence in the Internet industry, I returned to China to be part of pioneering the Internet in China. At that time, the Internet had grown quickly in much of the world and was having deep personal impact on individual lives and the global economy. It has been my passion through Zhaodaola China Internet Company to provide a platform for traditional companies to enter the New Economy experiencing the benefits of business on the Internet. In turn, individuals are provided information and services otherwise not readily available, thus enabling users to substantially enjoy the quality of their life and lifestyle experience.
Beginning 2001, China has made significant progress towards using the Internet to integrate into the global economy, improve China's domestic economy, and improve the lives of individuals. In the most recent plan for China's economic development, the government will push for wide acceptance of information technologies in every sector of the economy, popularize the use of computers, and intensify the development of information resources. I am glad to have been apart of this pioneering stage and look forward to being part of ushering many more into this incredible opportunity.
