Ningbo

The history of Ningbo can be traced back 7,000 years. The discovery of the Hemudu Neolithic Culture Ruins proves that Ningbo was one of the first places in the world where rice was cultivated.

Ningbo Port is located on the main route for international container shipping in the Pacific. World-class ports such as Hong Kong, Kaohsiung, Singapore, Pusan and Osaka are all within 1,000 nautical miles of Ningbo Port. Ningbo Port also enjoys favorable natural conditions. The waters in the harbor area are almost always calm; the harbor's average number of operating days per year can reach 350 days. Massive vessels can enter the port freely, making it highly advantageous for shipping.

The city's Beilun Port has also spawned a new industrial region that is now home to hundreds of new enterprises in the petrochemical, iron, steel, paper making and shipbuilding industries.
