A service member of NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed in a helicopter crash in eastern Afghanistan on Friday, according to a press release issued by ISAF on Saturday.

"Initial reporting indicates there was no insurgent activity in the area," the statement released late on Friday night said, adding, "the cause of the crash is under investigation."

The press release did not name the exact crash site and the identity of the service member.

So far, there is no report from the Taliban militants who are active in eastern Afghanistan in recent years to claim the responsibility for the case.

At the same time, another press release from ISAF said that one of its service member died as a result of a non-battle related injury in eastern Afghanistan on Friday.

"It is ISAF policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities," said the press release.
