At least two people were killed and dozens of others wounded in a 5.6-magnitude earthquake which struck the city of Kraljevo in central Serbia early Wednesday, local media reported.
The quake, which jolted at 1:56 am (0056 GMT) just 10 km north of Kraljevo, also caused severe damage to buildings in the city, parts of which were also cut off power and water supply.
The two victims, a couple in their 50s, were killed at Grdica, which is near Kraljevo, the Tanjug news agency quoted Interior Minister Ivica Dacic as saying.
Earlier, the U.S. Geological Survey had put the magnitude of the earthquake at 5.3 with its epicenter at a depth of 27.30 km.
The quake was felt across the nation, including capital Belgrade.
