Chinese action film star and philanthropist Jet Li announced on Wednesday that he will be starring in the new film "Ocean Paradise". Director Xue Xiaolu and other leading actors Guey Lun-Mei, Wen Zhang, and Chen Rui also attended the press conference.
The biggest surprise of the film is that Jet Li no longer plays a martial art master, but an ordinary man. It is Li's first attempt in 25 years to tackle a new type of role. He says it is all because of the impressive screenplay.
"Ocean Paradise" is the original work of director Xue Xiaolu, and the storyline is taken from personal experience. The movie tells the story of a boy who suffers from autism. The author believes that love can move everyone, and it can rescue everyone. Also, Xue looks forward to working with Jet Li, who was himself very impressed by the love found in this story.
Actor Jet Li said, "What makes the film touching is love. Love also means responsibility. To me it is the most beautiful thing in the world. It costs a lot to be parents."
Jet Li plays the boy's father in "Ocean Paradise", and Wen Zhang acts as the son. Wen will show off his Kungfu skills in the movie.
As a Taiwan film idol, Guey Lun-Mei will make a breakthrough by playing the part of a clown. She says she has already started to practice her juggling skills.
The production crew is also strong, including the internationally renowned cinematographer Christopher Doyle, and Oscar nominated art designer Hai Chung-Man.
