Real-life couple Karina Smirnoff and Maksim Chmerkovskiy bring their moves to Broadway in the new show "Burn the Floor." The twosome, who also appear on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," will appear in the production through August 16th.
"Burn the Floor", an exhausting, perpetual-motion dance extravaganza, had its world premiere in 1999 in England, and has since played in more than 20 countries.
The show features popular dances like the Viennese waltz, the tango, swing, Charleston, salsa and more.
With their immaculate skills, Chmerkovskiy and Smirnoff would be the best thing about this relentless show.
Dancer Karina Smirnoff said, "It is a fun, fun, fun show. Burn the Floor, the company has been touring around for about 10-11 years and they did very successful in Asia and Australia. They're originally from Australia. One of their biggest fans is Japan. In Japan they would keep on clapping for encore for them to come out while they were already in the changing room in their towels so they would be like, 'Ok, I guess we have to come out because they're not leaving' so they would come out in their towel just to bow again."
The production's 20 dancers come from around the globe as well and collectively hold more than 100 dance titles.
