Many businesses and small shops suffered severe losses during the turmoil in Urumqi. Now they are regaining their confidence and hitting the road of self-recovery.
This convenience store in Urumqi was completely ruined on the night of July 5th. Its owner, Ms. Xu, sheds tears when she recalls the horrible scenes.
Ms. Xu, said, "The nightmare came at 8 pm that day. The first gang of rioters threw stones at the windows. And then, another gang came and set our goods on fire. They also robbed us of many goods. Nothing is left now. I hid behind a big box and saw everything. "
This Nissan dealership also had an awful experience that day. 27 cars were destroyed and burned, resulting in losses of 8-million yuan. Although part of its business has returned to normal, this company still has a long way to go. Its general manager says they are doing their best to move on.
Li Zhihong, General Manager of Nissan Dealership, Urumqi, said, "8-million is a big loss. We got support from government to help us repair the windows, but we have to perform self-recovery at the same time."
