The Urumqi Friendship Hospital has received over 100 injured. 98 of them are still being treated. Four have died.

There were so many rushed to hospital, that some had to be treated in corridors.

Urumqi taxi driver Huang Zhengjiang said, "I was surrounded by several rioters at that moment and then they kept smashing me. I don't know what they used to hit me. I was unconscious. Some one got me to hospital after they left. They are really despicable. Our lives had been so good, why would they have done such things. Now I don't even dare to step out of my door."

This six-year-old girl is the youngest victim. She was beaten when she was out shopping with her grandmother.
