Tropical rainstorm Linfa is expected to land in the coastal areas between the east of Guangdong Province and the south of Fujian, on Sunday afternoon. China meteorological authorities have launched a level three storm warning.

Linfa was upgraded to a strong tropical storm on Saturday. It was formed in the South China Sea, 300 km south of Shantou on the coast of Guangdong. The wind speed at the eye was 72 kilometers an hour, moving northward at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour.
Liang Jiazhi, Hydrology Bureau, Ministry of Water Resources, said, Linfa is not strong but it is influencing a large area. It's moving slowly but its direction is variable and it might shift course.
Since the storm might unleash gales and high waves, local governments in Fujian and Guangdong have launched emergency response plans. Local governments will closely monitor the movement of the storm, keep ships informed and tighten management of reservoirs.
Two working teams dispatched by the National Headquarters for Flood and Drought Resistance arrived at Fujian and Guangdong Province on Saturday.
