Trams Return to Beijing
Last year, trams returned to Beijing's Qianmen Street, following the restoration of the neighborhood south of Tiananmen Square.
The new service is known for its environment-friendly aspects, minimum noise, and energy conservation. All the trams are made exactly according to the original shape and size of more than a century ago. The route has three stops...the Fifth Archway, Dajiang Hutong, and Zhushikou. It takes ten minutes to cover the five kilometers route. Each passenger receives a ticket, which bears the logo of the trams.
Now the trams are an important attraction for tourists visiting Qianmen Street.
