A Research team at Shandong Stem Cell Engineering Research Center has successfully cloned five human blastulas from 135 eggs. This means China is now at the cutting edge of such technology.
Scientists used a Spindle Imaging System to enucleate eggs. Then they obtained the five blastulas using infrared laser and chemical methods.
Of the five cloned blastulas, four were from healthy donors, while the other one was from patients with Parkinson's disease. This new technology could help in the treatment of patients suffering from diabetes, leukemia, cancer and Parkinson's disease.
