The famous Roast Peking Duck chain, "Quanjude", says it may be forced to delay opening in Taiwan, due to current restrictions on the import of raw materials across the Taiwan Strait.
Earlier reports that the century-old restaurant will open in Taiwan have whetted the appetites of many locals. But the group recently said that Taiwan customers might have to wait for some time before they taste the delicacy on the island. It said the mainland and Taiwan first had to agree on personnel entry and work permits, as well as the import of raw materials.
Quanjude's chairman, Jiang Junxian, said the Taiwan branch would have to source specially-fed ducks from the mainland to keep the dish's original flavor. The Taiwan outlet would also need as many as seven chefs from the mainland.
