Monday marks the first anniversary of China's National Center for the Performing Arts. A series of events are planned to celebrate the birthday of the Beijing landmark. And, the 22nd of December will be set aside as a special open day for the public each year.

Monday marks the first anniversary of China's National Center for the Performing Arts.

The curtain raised for the big celebration on Saturday. Three special performances are being staged. They include a concert, an opera performance, and the Peking Opera, "Red Cliff."
There are also three exhibitions, art and music lectures, and the opening of the theatre's art file center. And starting this year, December 22nd is an open day for the public and people can get free tickets on line.
