Price is the most important consideration for fun-seekers. This winter, all-inclusive tickets covering amusements, the ice and snow park and food are proving to be hot sellers.
Moving to the northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region... ringed by the Altai Mountains, Kanas Lake means the "Beautiful and Mysterious Lake" in the Mongolian language. Snow started to fall in October and will continue through to April. The heavy snow usually discourages tourists from visiting the icy region but this winter, entry to the Kanas Tourism Area is free between November 15th and April 15th.
Located in a far-flung corner of Xinjiang, Kanas has the most snowfall of any place in the autonomous region. The fabulous remote landscape and minority groups' traditional lifestyles are the main attractions.
Local Tuvan people, a branch of the Mongolian Nationality, keep up their traditions of skiing on boards wrapped in animal skins, archery and horse racing. The second Kanas Photography Festival, a traditional hunting and skiing competition, and unique local activities make the region worth a visit despite the severe cold.
