After nearly eight years of marriage, Madonna and Guy Ritchie were granted a preliminary divorce by a British court.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie were married at Skibo Castle in Scotland in December 2000.

The pop star petitioned for divorce on the grounds of what she called Ritchie's "unreasonable behaviour", but the court did not elaborate.
