Shandong Luneng beat league rival Shanghai Shenhua 2-1 in the A3 Champions Cup in Jinan on Sunday.

Jiang Kun of Shanghai Shenhua fouled to give Luneng a penalty kick soon after the game kicked off. Aleksandar Zivkovic scored breezily to put the hosts ahead.

Zheng Zhi doubled Luneng's lead 22 minutes later with a clear shot to the left of the goal.

"It's an important game," said Luneng head coach Ljubisa Tumbakovic. "We performed well in the first half, but after we took the lead, we performed less aggressively."

Gimenez Toledo Wison Osvaldo, coach of Shanghai Shenhua, said, "Although we lost, we performed well in the second half."
